Palace offers new take on high tea

Who says hot drinks aren’t for summer? The Palace at Sun City has spruced up its high tea menu with a selection of tantalisin­g savouries, cakes and puddings, and some good old fashioned sweets.

With something to suit all tastes and palates, sushi-lovers will be pleased to find fresh sushi favourites in the cast of high tea treats.

“High tea is not reserved only for those with a sweet tooth and so we have added hearty homemade pies, quiches and sandwiches, as well as sushi, to our high tea ensemble.

“While the colourful array of cakes and pudding provides a visual feast, the alluring aromas of warm-baked goods are a feast for the nose,” says the Palace executive chef Hanroe Erasmus.

The lavish high tea is served daily from 3pm to 5pm. Guests booking and paying for a high tea for three can bring along a fourth person to enjoy the sumptuous feast for free. The cost per person is R235. Booking is essential on 014 557 4307.

The list of pastries is almost endless, with options such as milk tart; lemon bavours meringue; strawberry cheese cake tart and pistachio opera slice.

The cakes and desserts are nothing short of mouthwater­ing, with Victorian cake; baked cheese cake, dark chocolate mousse cake; Amarula brulee and handbag tiramisu in the selection.
