Sarb will keep its independence
The central bank says a proposed amendment bill aimed at nationalising the institution would have no impact on its independence or primary mandate of price stability.
The rand was rattled after opposition firebrand Julius Malema introduced a bill to nationalise the South African Reserve Bank (Sarb).
“The proposed Bill does not alter our primary mandate of price stability, nor independence,” Sarb said. – Reuters
