The lock proved once more he simply did not have a poor game in him. He was often seen at the forefront of the Boks’ defensive onslaught and went through a mountain of work. His calling of the lineouts was also superb, despite the Boks losing four throw-ins. Rating: 6/10
Coach Rassie Erasmus remarked afterwards that the experienced flanker might be short on game time after an injury ruled him out of the June Tests, but he grew stronger as the game progressed and was a tower of strength on the ground and in contact.
