Too many questions about land

-

There’s a lot of uncertainty and economic shivers on the expropriation of land by government affecting investors and the farming community, as investment without compensation will be a lose-lose situation for landowners.

There can be many questions asked: who are the emerging farmers? Are they skilled, financially strong and stable? Do they have experience in farming? Do they have a business plan?

If government strategies fail in a year or two, will government oversee and finance and assist to the hilt the new emerging farmers?

Will the digitally minded youth take up farming? And last, will it work for government?

I hope it’s not only for votes for 2019. Because, realistically, farmers are in jitters of uncertainty and already food prices are rising. Farouk Saloojee, Rustenburg
