Tembo goes shopping

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo (below) is hoping to land a centreback before the transfer deadline day at the end of the month. “We are looking to add some players in certain positions, like in the defence. We lost Denwin Farmer, Tefu Mashamaite and Azubuike Egwuekwe. We brought in Bongani Khumalo as cover at centreback but we are still looking to reinforce in that department. We will take our time, give the ones around us some time and we will take it from there,” said Tembo. Senong eyeing Swaziland?

Amajita coach Thabo Senong (above) is said to be interested in the Swazi national team job which is vacant and has been advertised recently. Senong has been with Amajita for a while and is said to be open to a new challenge and the Isihlangu seMnikati post could be the perfect break for him. “He has wanted to grow for a while now and has made himself available to a few local teams but it never led to anything. This could be the chance for him to show he is not just a juniors coach and could coach at the highest level. He has the qualifications and the experience. I don’t see why he should not go for it,” said a source. No concern over Portia remarks

Orlando Pirates striker Thamsanqa Gabuza (above) is said to be unperturbed by the comments by former Banyana Banyana star Portia Modise, who criticised the striker on national radio last week. Modise said Gabuza can’t even trap the ball properly and if she were to be in the same team as the striker she would make the first team ahead of him. “You know how Gabuza is. He just laughed it off. He has gone through similar criticism before and knows how to deal with it,” said a source close to the player. Gabuza was in the Pirates starting team and played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic at the weekend. Mohomi looks likely to move

Indications are that Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lucky Mohomi (above) is edging ever closer to the exit door at Chloorkop. The former Free State Stars anchorman has made very little impact at the club, having struggled to break into Pitso Mosimane’s team, where he would have to compete with Hlompho Kekana, Oupa Manyisa, Tiyani Mabunda and Andile Jali for a starting berth. Mohomi has not played any football for the champions this year, having made his debut last October. The 27-year-old has also been left out of Masandawana’s squad for their Caf Champions League campaign.
