Cambodia frees female activist
Bangkok – A Cambodian land rights activist has been released from prison on a royal pardon, having spent more than two years in detention in a case that came to symbolise the struggle of local communities against evictions.
Tep Vanny led a campaign fighting forced removals for a luxury real estate project in Phnom Penh. She was found guilty of inciting violence and assaulting guards and sentenced to jail. – Reuters
