Danish farmers take more hits

Copenhagen – Losses for already hard-pressed Danish farmers are likely to be bigger than previously expected, an industry lobby group said yesterday, warning this could trigger more bankruptci­es.

Denmark, like many countries in Europe, has had one of the hottest summers on record, which has damaged crops. The drought and low pork prices are likely to trigger losses not seen since the 2008 financial crisis.
