20 up for Sakayi!
Ultra-consistent apprentice jockey Khanya Sakayi has been bagging winners on a regular of late. His consistency was richly rewarded on Saturday afternoon at Scottsville where he registered a rather valuable double that paid a handsome R22.60!
This double marked a career high for the 19-year-old. It earned him his 20th career triumph, and as a result will now only claim 2.5kg – the first of many more highs to be achieved of course.
Sakayi brought home the biggest outsider in the field in Race 6, 15-1 shot Los Barbados and then showed tremendous resilience aboard 41-10 fancy Rio De La Plata in Race 8, impressively fighting Verdier all the way to the line, winning by the ‘whisker’ margin of 0.05 lengths.
