Dan’s quick return?

-

Former Chippa United coach Dan Malesela may be back in the dugout soon if what Phakaaathi sources are whispering is to be believed. Malesela was fired last week but might not be unemployed for too long as National First Division side TS Galaxy are said to have enquired about his availability. “They are a new club and you know they are bound to panic when they don’t get a good start. They haven’t had a good start, having drawn both their matches so far and Dan is seen as someone who can help. He is familiar with some of the players having worked with them at Cape Town All Stars in the past. Some of them were promoted to the first team by him,” said a source. Bafana boost as Zungu fit again

Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter will today name his squad for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya and he received a boost this weekend as star midfielder Bongani Zungu (above) returned to action in Ligue 1 with Amiens. Zungu had been out of action with a knee injury, and his French side had got off to a poor start, but his return to the centre of midfield coincided with a far better performance over the weekend as they comfortably beat Reims 4-1. Zungu has been linked with a move away from Amiens before the end of the transfer window, with Greek giants Olympiakos rumoured to be interested. Cosmos delighted with Nkosi

Former Orlando Pirates striker Ayanda Nkosi (above) has hit the ground running and is now an instant hit at Jomo Cosmos where he is on loan for the season. Nkosi was on the scoresheet as Ezenkosi drew 2-2 with TS Galaxy in their National First Division fixture last weekend. A source said Nkosi looks to be in the right frame of mind. “He wants to get back to his best again and Jomo (Sono) has promised to help him become better if he is willing to put in the hard work. He is still young and a lot has happened to him, some of which almost ended his career and he now wants to use this second chance to the best of his ability,” said the source. Tau produces a superb finish

Bafana striker Percy Tau (above) expressed his delight after getting off the mark this weekend for his new Belgian side Union St Gilloise with a glorious chipped finish in a 3-0 cup win over Antwerp. “I am obviously happy with this first goal,” said Tau, according to the club’s Twitter account. “The team are progressing well ... scoring with a flick? I tried my luck and it went in. I am especially happy we won and went through.” Tau was signed by English Premier League side Brighton from Mamelodi Sundowns, and loaned to St Gilloise, a second-tier side owned by Brighton chairman Tony Bloom.
