Errors at the back cost us, wails coach
TS Galaxy coach Vusi Mkhatshwa was left to rue an early mistake on Sunday as his side had to settle for a share of the spoils with Jomo Cosmos after a 2-2 draw in a National First Division match he felt they could easily have won.
The Rockets had to come from behind after Ezenkosi’s new signing Ayanda Nkosi put them ahead with a header from a Matsilele Sono corner. Galaxy were caught flat-footed at the back.
“We dominated. We created so many chances, I felt if we had not conceded an early goal we would have won it,” said Mkhatshwa after the match. “We defended badly at the beginning. We will rectify that and start winning matches. If we can build on today’s performance we will definitely be better,” added Mkhatshwa.
Nation Ndlovu equalised for the Rockets and Tshepo Chaine made it 2-1, but Vusumuzi Mncube spoilt it with an equaliser which ensured a point each at Kameelrivier Stadium in KwaNdebele.
Cosmos owner and coach Jomo Sono was a little more enthusiastic and was happy with the point.
“We both went for the kill. It is good that four goals were scored. It is good for the wonderful crowd we had at the match,” said Sono.
Sono is still in a rebuilding phase after selling almost all his players in June and starting anew. Financial difficulties forced him to part with his valuable and more experienced players. He is happy with how it is coming together.
“We didn’t have our full squad available today. But after today I can say that we will compete. We have a new team. I brought in 28 new players and they have only been together for two weeks. We are still waiting for some of them to come through as they are waiting for their work permits.
“I saw this team compete against Ajax and we played them off the park (they lost 2-1). I saw this team coming back from 2-1 to 2-2 here today in front of such a big home crowd. They are hungry. Their ambition is to grow and go and play somewhere one day,” said Sono.
