-

Ushering in the warm temperatures, this week has been eventful on the fashion scene. Last Sunday saw Joburg’s finest dressed up at the yearly Cell C Africa Polo Cup, which followed A Night With The Stars’s first-of-its-kind local women’s fashion show, hosting top designers and fashion brands in one venue, together with A-list celebrities. competing in this year’s prestigious polo and social event, the cup competition showcased some of Africa’s leading polo players in an enthralling weekend of sport and glamorous fashion.

The competition was complimented by a fashion exhibition from South African designers who displayed their wares in the Inanda Polo room.

Award-winning designers Clive Rundle, Maxhosa, Ephymol, Marianne Fassler, Kluk CGDT, La Martina and Black Coffee were among those who showcased their garments and talents.

“We were excited to have Lalla host the event,” said Paul Oosthuizen, Inanda Club polo manager.

“We continuously aim to exceed guests’ expectations and to have Lalla on board made for an unforgettable experience.” and George, Matte Nollim, Erre, and Gert-Johan Coetzee.

Multi award-winning musician Lady Zamar provided the evening’s entertainment, together with the a cappella singing sensation Beyond Vocal, affectionately known as BV.

Adding an element of sparkle to the evening runway, Bernini, together with cosmetics brand Inglot, created an installation where guests were treated to mini-makeovers to ensure that they had the perfect look for the night. Ntando Ngwenya of Pretoria is a self-taught designer who grew his passion for denim fabric to high fashion runways.

After the opportunity of working with leading fashion designer David Tlale, Ngwenya, of fashion label Ntando XV, has developed a brand that is fast gaining popularity with lovers of the pop culture.

His latest spring/summer range, titled Project 0.5, features an abstract perspective on denim with fusions of pure cotton and linen.

“The concept behind Project 0.5 The Ventilation Presentation focuses on movement, functionality and practicality,” he said.

“This collection is inspired by the purpose of having ventilation openings on garments.”

The irresistible appeal of layering is one step closer to getting men comfortable with the possibilities that exist in fashion for menswear.
