Date set for dentist’s murder trial
The trial of 50-year-old Spanish dentist Mario-Cesar Deus Yela, who is charged with killing his three-year-old twin children in Hout Bay last year, has been set down for November 12.
Yela appeared in the Western Cape High Court yesterday on charges of murdering twins Octavia and Maximo at a holiday rental apartment in Hout Bay on April 6 last year.
Yela’s ex-wife Julia Engelhorn was also in court, accompanied by the lawyer who represented her during the divorce.
Defence lawyer William Booth and state prosecutor Louise Friester-Sampson requested a postponement to February 4, 2019, but Judge Vincent Saldanha refused to grant the lengthy postponement.
The court will appoint a Spanish interpreter for the duration of the trial. – ANA
