EU appointment irregular

– The European Ombudsman has found that the European Union (EU) under Jean-Claude Juncker failed to follow procedures in appointing his chief aide to run the EU civil service.

Publishing the findings of her probe into the appointment of Martin Selmayr as secretary-general of the European Commission, Emily O’Reilly said yesterday that four instances of maladministration resulted from not following rules correctly. – Reuters
