Battaash, who was vying for favouritis­m in places with Blue Point for Sunday week's Derrinstow­n Stud Flying Five Stakes at The Curragh, will not run as connection­s are keen to freshen him up for the defence of his Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye crown.

Trained by Charlie Hills for Hamdan Al Maktoum, Battaash was second to Blue Point in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot before producing a blistering performanc­e to win the King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

That meant the ultra-rapid four-year-old went off favourite for the Nunthorpe Stakes at York last month, but he did not fire in that for the second year running, finishing fourth behind Alpha Delphini.
