ANC reacts only after a tragedy

-

The government building that is home to three departments – human settlement, cooperative governance and traditional affairs – was engulfed in a fire that resulted in three deaths.

It is critical to identify what went wrong in order to prevent this from happening again.

Johannesburg CBD has unfortunately gone through a process of urban decay.

A process that sees once flourishing neighbourhoods turn into ghost towns.

Mayor Herman Mashaba has been hard at work in rejuvenating the CBD through taking back hijacked buildings and allocating them for low-cost housing.

The fire that engulfed The Bank of Lisbon building happened due to the extended shrug off mentality by the Gauteng Provincial government under the ANC.

Health and safety inspectors and employees had raised the issue of safety on a number of occasions. Instead of fixing the problem, nothing happened.

It is obvious that the ANC only responds to issues once somebody has died. When the DA wins Gauteng in 2019, issues will be ad- dressed as and when reported, not only when somebody passes away. Lungelo Nxaba (DA Youth)
