Hatherly best U-23 in the world
Alan Hatherly reaffirmed his tremendous potential at the weekend, delivering a superb performance to win the men’s Under-23 race at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
The 22-year-old rider became the first South African to claim the title since the late Burry Stander achieved the feat in 2009.
Hatherly, who took silver at the championships last season, won in 1:21:22, finishing nearly 30sec clear of US rider Christopher Blevins. – Wesley Botton
