Despite being singled out for criticism in the past, De Allende did not have a bad Test match. He was solid in the direct defensive channel, while taking the ball up well when put in possession. Though he could be more creative and ambitious, he did well enough. Rating: 5/10

He did well enough to close down the space in wide channels, apart from the early spell when Michael Hooper scored the Wallabies’ first try. Kriel produced a great tackle on the Boks’ corner flag but was poor with a kick-pass when he had space. Rating: 6/10

He showed great anticipation in scoring the Boks’ second try in the corner by diving low and countering an attempted high tackle while he was visible with a good tackle and turnover in almost the same movement. Again, however, he had to go off with a knee injury.
