Report not new

On August 17, The Citizen erroneously published an article with the headline, “Water department dysfunctional – report” which was based on a report that was released by the South African Water Caucus in November 2017.

The newspaper accepts its error for publishing a 10-month-old report as new without giving the department an opportunity to respond. The department of water and sanitation had challenged the findings of the report at the time and we did not give them a right of reply in our recent report.

We apologise to the department of water and sanitation for the damage the error may have caused and for misleading our readers.
