Team of the Week
Egypt’s Mohammed Salah hogged the spotlight in this past weekend’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when he uncharacteristically missed two penalties in the Pharaohs’ 6-0 thumping of Niger. However, two assists and two goals from the Liverpool man earns him the nod to spearhead Phakaaathi’s Team-of-theWeek. Either side of him there’s Zimbabwe’s Khama Billiat and Justin Shonga who both scored in stalemates against Congo and Namibia respectively. At the heart of midfield Dean Furman gets the nod after he picked up the Man-of-the-Match gong in Bafana Bafana’s 0-0 draw at home to Libya, while Itumeleng Khune mans the goal. In front of Khune, Mozambique’s Ednilson Dove’s performance against Toni Silva’s Guinea-Bissau earns him a place in defence alongside Godfrey Walusimbi, who helped Uganda keep a clean sheet at home to Tanzania.
