Act now on SA’s plastic scourge

-

Iwatched the most enlightening TV programme covered by National Geographic, Planet or Plastic. What are we as South Africans going to do about this?

When riding in the countryside, fences alongside the highways and minor roads are littered with plastic bags, blown against them by the wind.

Our streets are strewn with plastic bottles and bags, all of which do not end up in landfills but in the country’s rivers – and eventually the sea.

All plant and sea life in our rivers and oceans throughout the world are under serious threat and if we do not act now, it will be too late.

I ask again, what are we going to do about this in our own backyard? Garry, Montana Park
