Expropriation honours Biko – EFF

-

Expropriating land without compensation will be honouring anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko’s legacy of black consciousness, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said yesterday.

Party spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said: “There are no grounds for black people’s pride and dignity until black people attain land in this country.

“It is, therefore, in memory of Steve Biko that we must never retreat as the generation of EFF that demands the return of the land for all black people, in particular, for native Africans.” Biko was an exceptional and inspirational leader who changed the course of South African history before and after his death at the hands of the security police in 1977.

He led the Black Consciousness Movement which was formed to fill the political void for black people after the banning of anti-apartheid movements such as the ANC and the Pan-Africanist Congress.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver a memorial lecture to honour Biko at the University of South Africa in Pretoria tomorrow.
