Post office needs close scrutiny

-

I’m wondering why journalists have not looked into the SA Post Office (Sapo) with all the complaints on a regular basis. Granted, the Sassa grant payment debacle is important – but the primary reason for the post office has been forgotten.

The lack of postal delivery has given the Sapo a bad rap internationally. I had an item shipped from overseas last year and it has still not arrived, presumed missing.

This makes one worried about items that have not arrived lately. Will Sapo make sure that all items get to their destination or will they let items go missing and write them off?

Even local post has been affected. Nobody wants to use the post office.

On another note, another good article would be Eskom and the Witbank Municipality owing them close to R2 billion.

Granted, this is a problem all over the country. The one reason is the interest that Eskom charges on the accounts. Then there is the nonpayment culture, illegal connections and how that is being thwarted and, finally, incorrect billing, even though readings have been taken.

The council maintains there is no problem with the billing.

These are not isolated incidents, but it seems that all of these come together here. Daryl Demmer, Witbank
