‘Cop killer’ hands himself over

A man appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday for killing an off-duty police officer at a tavern in KwaNdengezi, near Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. This was the second time an off-duty officer was killed in the province this month.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane, said the incident took place at 6.30am on Sunday. “A 29-year-old off-duty police officer was allegedly stabbed by a 29-year-old man.”

The suspect handed himself over to police. – ANA
