No maintenance is the big problem
Poynton’s Building in Pretoria declared unsafe for occupation, tenants have been evacuated.
This scenario exists with many buildings in the city centres of Joburg and Pretoria, the reason being maintenance is not done.
They are allowed to rot and decay, building owners take shortcuts and refuse to spend any capital on renovations.
The word “maintenance” does not exist in the vocabulary of most institutions these days.
It applies to municipalities and government departments.
Our new democracy uses it until it breaks, then moves on to the next resource to plunder. Garry, Montana Park
