Chinese out to recolonise African continent

-

They promise aid that obviously has strings attached, writes Gram Chigura from Hillbrow.

The Chinese have taken the world by storm and they are in a mad rush to control everything. Their appetite for conquest and control is not only confined to their corner of the world, but extends far beyond.

Their insatiable need for resources and control has seen them stretching their hands as far as the African continent, with all indications clear that their aim is to recolonise us.

Unlike the previous colonisers, who developed the continent, the Chinese are just on a snatch-andgrab mission, where they won’t leave even the crumbs that fall off the feeding table.

Africa has been unfortunate in that we have failed to come up with our home-grown solutions to carry on from where our colonial masters left off, or stimulate economic growth to the next level.

We are endowed with a vast array of riches and all that has only helped to fuel endless wars, causing untold suffering to the people and of late, triggering a mass exodus of weary Africans across the high seas in search of a future.

This has created some gaps that our Chinese brothers are in a mad rush to fill, by promising aid that has strings attached.

For clarity’s sake, 97% of shoes sold in South Africa are Chinese imports, all the blankets that we sleep under are Chinese imports, a large percentage of electrical gadgets are Chinese imports.

They come with a lot of promises which remain a pie in the sky. When shall we wake from our deep slumber?
