Mom held for dumping baby

A mother, 26, has been arrested for allegedly abandoning her newborn at a dump site in Port Elizabeth.

Eastern Cape police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said community members found a naked little boy. When police arrived on the scene, they followed a blood trail to a house in Kolisi Street. The baby is receiving medical attention.

The mother is expected to appear in the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court today on charges of attempted murder and child abandonment. – ANA
