Cash-in-transit robbers get 25 years
Two cash-in-transit heist perpetrators have been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by the High Court in Pietermaritzburg, the directorate for priority crime investigation, or the Hawks, said yesterday.
In October 2014, Nicholas Mkhanyiseni Mdluli, 50, and Salakuliwa Welcome Msimango, 48, attacked security guards who were transporting cash at Gingindlovu area.
They fired shots at the vehicle until it halted, poured petrol over it and ordered the guards out.
The duo robbed them of their firearms and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police arrested Mdluli that day and Msimango later. – ANA
