Han Solo jacket has no Force

London – A jacket worn by Harrison Ford as Han Solo in the Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back failed to sell at a London auction this week.

The blue-grey jacket is the only significant costume piece from the original trilogy to come to public auction. It had a pre-sale estimate of between £500 000 and £1 million (about R19 million). But bidding stalled at £450 000.

The most expensive item sold was a fedora hat Ford wore as Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark, which fetched £320 000.
