We aim to please, says Mothiba of clash

SuperSport United’s Aubrey Modiba (right) has promised entertaining fare tomorrow at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in an Absa Premiership clash against Black Leopards.

“We need to collect maximum points and it is going to be a good game to watch because they like to spend time on the ball. They are a very good side but they did not win their last game and maybe we can use that to our advan- tage,” said Modiba.

The Bafana Bafana international praised his coach Kaitano Tembo, saying he has done well to restore the confidence in the camp on the back of a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Orlando Pirates a week ago.

“That game is now water under the bridge and we are not going to dwell on that, we must just rectify our mistakes because there are positives we can take from the game.

“The coach has brought back the confidence and ... we understand we can’t win them all,” said Modiba.

“The coach always tells us to focus on the next game and it would be a good thing to go to the final having won tomorrow’s game,” he added, as Matsatsantsa look ahead to defending their MTN8 title against Modiba’s former side Cape Town City next Saturday in Durban.

“We have been here before ... we have experienced players who can help us and keep us grounded and to not be excited about the final ahead of the Leopards game,” Modiba insisted.

The versatile 23-year-old player added: “Honestly, I don’t think we are dwelling on it (the final) too much, maybe we will start thinking about it from next week ... we need to do well in the league, because we have not been doing well since the club last won it (the Premiership) three times in a row (between 2007 and 2010).

“We are a team that can fight for the league because we have good players and some of them have been there and done that,” he concluded.
