Round-the-world racer saved at sea
– A solo Indian sailor adrift at sea thousands of kilometres from land with a serious back injury was rescued from his yacht yesterday after an international search effort.
Abhilash Tomy, a competitor in the Golden Globe round-the-world race, was badly injured in a storm that damaged his vessel in a remote stretch of the Indian Ocean. Adrift 3 500km from Australia, he had been unable to move, but was now stable. –
