Ex-mayor tipped as new president
San Salvador – Nayib Bukele, 37, and former mayor of El Salvador’s capital, is the frontrunner expected to win the presidential election in February 2019 in the impoverished and crime-ridden Central American country, according to a poll released on Wednesday.
It marks the first time in three decades that a candidate from an outsider party has a real shot of winning the five-year term as president when Salvadorans vote on February 3.
