Call for Saps shake-up
The SA Police Service (Saps) management team needs a shake-up after a second consecutive qualified audit, members of parliament said yesterday.
The portfolio committee on police expressed doubt about the competence of senior officials regarding financial, procurement and contract management. “New blood is needed to turn the ship around,” said committee chairperson Francois Beukman.
“Drastic measures” were needed to prevent another qualified audit and the R968 million irregular expenditure should prompt the police minister to put in place strict governance. – ANA
