Here’s Strydom’s advice on a few topics of discussion regarding the home and upcycling:

-

On a budget, what are some of your tips for buying from a shop that sells second-hand items or antiques? Spend time browsing. Take your time when looking for a specific piece, pop in to a few stores and compare pricing. Talk to the shop owner, let them know if you are looking for something specific. We sometimes have stock in storage, and it might just be what you are looking for. Its always better to invest a bit more money in a quality statement piece that will last longer.

At Trouvé, what are some of your best-selling pieces? When it comes to big furniture pieces, people love display cabinets, desks and our famous farmhouse dining tables remain a favourite. We also have a selection of small décor pieces and our bunny décor also sells fast. We recently added a handmade home fragrance range.

What are some of the best non-furniture items people should incorporate in their home? People often neglect what a room smells like, and that has a big impact on the mood of the room. We have a fabulous reed diffuser with our signature Trouvé fragrance.

What’s your favourite piece of upcycled item/ furniture piece in your own home? I change the pieces at home on a regular basis. When I get tired of it, it goes to the shop. The vintage French headboard and pedestals in my bedroom are from my grandmother, and I also have an old bicycle on the wall in my living room.
