Naomi Campbell to lead special tribute to Mandela in centenary year

South Africans Patrice Motsepe, Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, ministers Lindiwe Sisulu and Jeff Radebe appeared on the stage at the Great Lawn in Central Park on Saturday alongside world leaders, musical artists and activists, where the legacy of Nelson Mandela will be honoured in his centenary year.

The Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, New York, took place ahead of the Johannesburg event on December 2, which will be headlined by Naomi Campbell, pictured.

With 60 000 gathered in Central Park and millions tuning in from across the globe, South Africans were invited to be part of the show with a special live intro to Johannesburg from New York and headlining performances on stage at the festival by local artists alongside Janet Jackson, Shawn Mendes, Cardi B and a special Guest performance by John Legend.

The Festival was livestreamed exclusively on Channel24.co.za or YouTube and Twitter.
