The fiery lock was in the middle of the action and one of the main reasons the sometimes over-eager Aussies struggled to stamp a physical presence on the game. Etzebeth played his heart out until he was replaced late in the Test by RG Snyman. Rating: 6/10

The lock with the heart of a lion showed again why it was so difficult for the coach to leave him out of the team. With the word ‘surrender’ seemingly missing from his vocabulary, he was persistent once again, and was one of the Boks’ leading tacklers.
