Great start for Dikgacoi

-

Royal Eagles interim coach Kagiso Dikgacoi (above) picked up his second win in row when his side beat Uthongathi 1-0 at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Saturday and he was proud, but he knows the work has just started.

Dikgacoi has been installed as coach while Roger Sikhakhane recovers in hospital from an undisclosed illness, and the former Bafana midfielder seems to have changed things around quite well after Eagles’ static start to the season.

“It’s been tough without the coach on the bench. But we constantly chat and share ideas. We have our best squad this season. But we will have to be patient and and see where we end up,” he said.

Captain Philani Cele – who has been converted from a midfielder to central defender by Digkacoi – headed the winner late into the match to ensure the home side keep the full points and move up to 11th on the standings.

TS Galaxy meanwhile finally got the monkey off their back when they scored their first win by beating Mpumalanga neighbours Witbank Spurs 2-0 at Kameelrivier Stadium on Sunday. The Rockets opened the scoring after 14 minutes when Nyembezi Setelele converted from the penalty spot. Sakhele Nhlabathi made it 2-0 seconds before the end.

“We made life difficult for ourselves,” said Galaxy coach Dan Malesela. “The longer it stays at 1-0 the more frustrated and desperate you get and mistakes creep in. But I am happy we have the three points.”
