India field teen for Windies

– Skipper Virat Kohli said yesterday India are looking to cement the team’s top order against the West Indies, as teenager Prithvi Shaw was named in the final 12 for the first Test.

Shaw, 18, is expected to open the batting alongside Lokesh Rahul. He has accumulated 1 418 runs in 14 first-class games.

The world’s No 1 Test side suffered from inconsistent top-order contributions during tours of South Africa and England.

The West Indies series starting in Rajkot today gives them an opportunity to work on problem areas ahead of an all-important tour of Australia. –
