Tender hopefuls using bodyguards

A video shared on social media yesterday paints a grim picture of the hundreds of lives lost in politically-motivated killings in KwaZulu-Natal over the years.
A Twitter user shared footage of a businessperson arriving at a tender briefing flanked by four armed guards in camouflage.
Last month, the Moerane Commission of Inquiry into Political Killings in KZN released its report, which found the tender system was the root cause.
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Zweli Mkhize recently said the police were trying to establish who orders political killings instead of punishing hired guns.
“So perhaps bodyguards are the way to go until they make headway in this regard,” he said.
