Cool cats and hot jockeys at Kranji

– We waxed lyrical about Michael Rodd last Friday and the Aussie jockey didn’t let us down with a hat trick of wins to close to the gap on Vlad Duric in the 2018 Jockeys’ Premiership to just one.

Duric won’t lie down though and the battle with just 19 meetings left will be one for the ages with a certain Frenchman in Olivier Placais more than just a sideshow as he is well within

Singapore

striking distance of a title tilt.

Race 3 at Kranji today is a great example of the three-way battle with Rodd on SUN GENERAL, Placais on MATSURIBAYASHI and Duric on BILLY BRITAIN - the three leading hopes over 1800m on the Polytrack.

We don’t speak of stallions often but One Cool Cat deserves a mention. This US-bred stallion has two runners in the opening race today and while the pair are no world beaters it’s worth noting that COOL CAT (a rising 13-year-old) and SECONDWAVE (10 years old) have had some 154 starts between them in Singapore - not a bad achievement in the longevity stakes.

Of the two, COOL CAT remarkably won two starts back and is not without a chance to knock in win number nine at start 97.

Best Bets: (SUN GENERAL Race 3, win), (MONTE NERONE Race 2, value) and (CENTURION Race 6, value).

Jackpot: Race 5 (1, 5 and 7), Race 6 (2, 3, 7, 8 and 10), Race 7 (1, 2, 4, 6 and 12), Race 8 (1, 2, 5, 7 and 12).
