Murrie: that belt is mine

- Clinton Jones

The Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) makes its final Johannesburg stop of the year tonight in an event that won’t be short of any fireworks.

The Big Top Arena at Carnival City will see the featherweight belt go up for grabs at EFC74 as local favourite Igeu Kabesa puts his title on the line against the very dangerous Scotsman Calum Murrie.

Kabesa (above), whose only blemish in the hexagon came against Murrie’s team-mate Daniel Henry, will be looking to continue his dominance in the division.

“Calum is just another in a long line of challengers coming for my belt.

“But, like the rest, he is gonna fall short,” said Kabesa, renowned for his athleticism and worldclass wrestling pedigree.

Out to retrieve the title for Scotland again, Murrie is hungry for victory.

“My team has beaten Igeu before and I will do it again. I will be the EFC featherweight champion,” a confident Murrie said.

The evening’s co-main event will see local journeyman Conrad Seabi take on unknown German Max Merten in a middleweight bout.

The two looked ready to go at it as things got a little heated at yesterday’s weigh-in.
