Jack up immigration at OR Tambo, please
The immigration counter at OR Tambo International Airport leaves much to be desired and just confuses travellers, writes Idwal.
Arriving at OR Tambo immigration yesterday morning, returning from a visit to the United Kingdom, I went to the queue for SA passport holders for permanent residents.
As I am a permanent resident when it came to my turn I went to a vacant desk, handed over my documents, and without greeting or even eye contact was told to go to counter 14.
I queried the reason and was just told new system, and counter 14 was now the only one under the new system that can process permanent residents. Is this now a permanent thing? Will the system eventually encompass all as previously, or is this now the new system?
But yet again, why not a sign at the entrance to the area or, even better, a member of staff to advise and inform?
