Red October campaign speaks to real issues

-

We need to take charge of our own destiny, writes Tom Mhlanga from Braamfontein.

On Sunday, October 7, the South African Communist Party launched its Red October campaign for 2018-2019.

This is one of the most progressive campaigns because it speaks to real issues affecting most people under the leadership of our municipalities.

The campaign seeks to en- courage our local government deployees and employees to work selflessly in order to improve the quality of life for the poor.

It is a known fact that most of our municipalities are distressed because of corruption and lack of capacity.

Most councillors can’t read or write properly.

They don’t call community meetings and this results in poor service delivery.

They simply don’t know how to do their jobs and are just there to collect their salaries.

If this Red October campaign is supported fully, it will change how things are currently done.

It will improve most lives because people are sick and tired of these incompetent councillors and their bosses.

Billions of rands are misused by municipalities at our expense. It’s about time we say “enough is enough”.

As members of the communities, we must take charge of our own destiny which includes voting out corrupt individuals at all levels of government.
