Wales will play Spain for the first time since 1985 tonight, when they host La Roja in an international friendly at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Wales will be without star Gareth Bale, who is reported to be battling a groin injury picked up with his club Real Madrid.

They still have plenty of talent in their ranks, though, including the likes of midfielder Aaron Ramsey and Chelsea’s up-and-coming star Ethan Ampadu.

Spain, however, are a class act, and started well under Luis Enrique last month, winning a Uefa Nations League match away against England 2-1, and then hammering Croatia 6-0 in a scintillating display. It is hard to see Wales getting anything out of this game, even if Bale was fit.

Wales will hope to conjour up the spirit of 1985, when they beat Spain 3-0 in a World Cup qualifier, but the current Spanish side just have too much ability.
