Pa­pua New Guinea gets 40 Maser­atis

– Pa­pua New Guinea has taken de­liv­ery of 40 lux­ury Maserati cars, val­ued around $300 000 (about R4.3 mil­lion) each, to ferry world lead­ers around the cap­i­tal Port Moresby dur­ing next month’s Asia-Pa­cific Eco­nomic Cor­po­ra­tion meet­ing, spark­ing anger on so­cial me­dia.

Most of the pop­u­la­tion in the South Pa­cific is­land na­tion live sub­sis­tence lives and lux­ury cars are few on its roads, which of­ten re­quire four-wheel-drive ve­hi­cles. – Reuters
