With things in the first team not going so well at the moment, AmaZulu FC reserve coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi hopes his young team’s good start in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge will inspire the senior team to climb up the ladder.

After eight games, Usuthu’s senior team are at the bottom of the Absa Premiership with three points after being docked six points by the PSL.

The club was found guilty by the Fifa Disciplinary Committee of ignoring a decision by CAS on September 13‚ 2017 regarding a dispute between the club and Namibian player Phinheas Nambandi.

While the first team is struggling, the reserves are doing the most in the MDC and they top the standings with 10 points after four games with three wins and one draw.

“I am happy with the way we started the league, I know there are still more games to go but there is a huge improvement from last season. We just want to do better than we did in the previous season,” said Vilakazi.

“We all sat down with the first team because of the situation, but we as coaches and the players there is nothing we can do about it, we just have leave it to the management to deal with.”

Vilakazi and his charges will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table when they take on second-placed Cape Town City in one of the four Diski matches to be played at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium today.
