Rapist handed life sentence

A man, 36, has been sentenced to life imprisonment at the Klerksdorp Regional Court for rape, according to North West police yesterday.

Captain Aafje Botma said Gabriel Mogale was sentenced on Tuesday for raping a 79-year-old woman in Jouberton near Klerksdorp on November 8, 2015, while she was alone at home.

Mogale forced her into a room and raped her.

“Mogale was seen by the victim’s son leaving the house,” said Botma.

“The victim informed her son that the accused raped her.

“The police were informed and arrested the accused shortly after the incident.”

North West provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Baile Motswenyane welcomed the sentence. – ANA
