There is no true freedom in new SA
Over the last 100 plus years the ANC, Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) and many other organisations, locally and internationally, fought for freedom for all our inhabitants.
From 1980, the race laws started to tumble and finally in 1994 everyone over 18 could vote. The question is: did we get freedom?
As a child in the ’50s I was raised both in the tribal land and in a town. There were no burglar bars, security systems, high walls, etc, at our homes. My parents seldom locked our doors.
Children and women could walk for kilometres alone without the fear of being raped, murdered or kidnapped.
We wandered the hills and spent nights fishing in the tribal areas without fear. This type of freedom no longer exists thanks to the lack of law enforcement.
The only people who can feel safe at home are the wealthy, who can afford private security. Over R7 billion a year is spent on protecting our politicians who live a life of luxury at our expense.
They are free to loot as they like. If they are caught the worst that can happen to them is to be fired and/or have to appear at an inquiry. Wilby
