Mother Mushroom leaves Vietnam

– Vietnamese dissident Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Quynh, known as “Mother Mushroom”, was released from prison yesterday and left Vietnam on a flight to the US, sources with knowledge of the matter said.

Quynh was serving a 10-year-sentence for antistate propaganda.

“Mother Mushroom is flying with her children and mother,” one source said.

Vietnam’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment. – Reuters
