The deadline for 2017-18 tax filing submission for nonprovisional taxpayers is October 31.

The SA Revenue Service has already indicated that it won’t be as lenient as in previous years regarding imposing penalties for late submissions. Individuals can choose to file their own returns, but it’s strongly advised to use a professional.

The first step in ensuring that you select the right person, is to choose a Sars-registered tax practitioner. A good place to start looking is the SA Institute of Professional Accountants, the SA Institute of Tax Professionals, or other relevant websites like www.findanaccountant.co.za
