It was a low-scoring week in the Fantasy Premier League ahead of last night’s final match of Gameweek 9 between Arsenal and Leicester City.

Phakaaathi’s Private Fantasy League, however, did have a new leader for their October competition, ahead of last night’s game at the Emirates, with Thato Mathiane’s Cechmate side racking up 62 points to move ahead in the race to win a Chiro Master Queen Base Set worth R6 000!

Mathiane did well to captain Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson, who helped his team keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 win at Huddersfield. A lot of FPL players probably flopped by captaining Eden Hazard, who was unable to have a real impact on the Chelsea-Man United game, and only ended up picking up one point, and two if you captained him. Mathiane also had Jordan Pickford (below) in goal, who racked up 15 points after keeping a clean sheet with Everton and saving a penalty in their game against Crystal Palace. The whole of Mathiane’s back four, indeed, didn’t concede a single goal.

Just a point behind Mathiane was Seblou Gcanga and his Vikings FC, with Matt Ryan, the Brighton goalkeeper, doing well by picking up 11 points in their 1-0 win at Newcastle.

Gcanga also had Willian of Chelsea in his side, who got an assist in their 2-2 draw with Manchester United, and did well to rack up 50 points even though he captained the disappointing Hazard.

It must be noted that there was plenty of room for movement at the top of the table after Arsenal’s game, however. For example, Haroun Moolla’s Nana’s Team, just four points off the top of the tree for October, still had Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette ready to claim him points at the Emirates.

Later in the week, once all the points have been tallied up, we will give a full list of the top 10 for October, heading into Gameweek 10.
